Windrush 2025 - The Homecoming!

Love Camden hosts 'Windrush 2025 to mark the 77th anniversary of HMS Windrush, and the imperative contribution of the Windrush Generation in Britain.

Camden’s Windrush story is one which stands on the shoulders of pioneers such as David Pitt, Baron of Hampstead and Claudia Jones whose activism and campaigning shaped UK multiculturalism.

It is also home to a generation of Windrush children; innovators, creatives, artists, musicians and disruptors who have influenced the face of modern and contemporary Britain, notable names include Jazzie B, Zak Ove, Akala, Miss Dynamite and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

The community came together to learn and discover the history with podcasts and interviews from Windrush descendents, Black innovators, community leaders and more. We explored and enjoyed Caribbean culture with special performances, music, food, arts and crafts. SWEATERGY® worked up a little sweaty vibe on the main stage alongside amazing performers such as Janet Kay, Skatician band, DJ Matt White and more.

Celebrations were held at Talacre Town Green, Sunday 22nd June, 12-7pm.
